Our elected officials are leaders who have made a significant contribution to our city. Each and every one of them brings a unique set of skills and expertise to our local government.

Rhea Fire

This picture was during what we call the Rhea Fire. Thousands of acres were burned and dozens of homes were lost. The fire burned right up to the edges of our town and we were evacuated with the sounds of our tornado sirens in the late evening. Most of the community wound up west of town at a cemetery and watched the red glow in the sky grow. We received donations from all over the US for our community members who lost homes and livestock. Our baseball and softball teams were frequently presented with donations from other teams, whether it was a goody bag for the players or a monetary donation to our Fire Department or even donations to our FFA Club, the concern and care we received was absolutely overwhelming and we'll never forget it. Our fire department has some of the best we feel! The two firemen in the picture are brothers with one of them being our newest Fire Chief.
